RECREATIONAL PROGRAM
DC Soccer Club is proud to offer the District’s largest youth sports program, with more than 3,500 players participating in our
Recreational Programs each fall and spring. Our goal is simple: provide a place for players of all abilities to learn and love the game in a fun, safe, and inclusive environment.
What sets DCSC’s recreational pathway apart is the balance of
community-driven, volunteer-led programming alongside professional support and development opportunities. Whether you’re joining your first soccer team in Pre-K, playing Futsal indoors during the winter, or adding extra training through clinics and camps, there is a program designed for every player and family. Our recreational programs are:
- Accessible: Low-cost, neighborhood-based programming across DC
- Inclusive: Coed and girls-only options; all ability levels welcome
- Safe: Background checks for volunteers; clear player-safeguarding standards
- Volunteer Support: Curriculum, education, and licensing pathways for volunteer coaches
- Flexible: Different program formats fit every family’s schedule and commitment level
Whether your child is touching the ball for the first time or building skills for the future, DC Soccer Club’s Recreational Programs provide a fun, welcoming, and development-appropriate environment for every player.
RECREATIONAL LEAGUE
Our flagship Recreational League serves coed players from Pre-K through Grade 12 and a girls-only league for Grades 1–12.
Nearly half of all recreational players are girls, making DCSC the city’s largest youth sports program for girls.
- One neighborhood-based practice each week, plus games across DC on Saturdays
- Players are grouped by school and neighborhood, with requests honored when possible to maximize convenience and social connection
- Volunteer coaches are at the heart of this program, and are equipped with curriculum, coaching education, and development opportunities. Age Group Commissioners—also volunteers—help guide league operations across each age group.
PRE-K PLUS PROGRAM
The
Pre-K Plus Program bridges the gap between our introductory Tots Program and the larger Recreational League. Each Saturday session combines both professional instruction and team-based play:
- Sessions begin with foundational skill work led by a professional DCSC coach.
- Players then transition to small-sided games coached by trained volunteers.
This hybrid model allows our youngest players to build confidence and friendships while taking their first steps into the team-sport environment.
WINTER FUTSAL
When the weather turns cold, our Winter Futsal League keeps players active and engaged to play outdoors in a games-only league format (no practices) on Saturdays. Using futsal’s unique format—smaller teams, heavier ball, and quicker play—players develop agility, creativity, and decision-making in a fun, fast-paced environment.
CLINICS AND CAMPS
For players looking to build skills beyond weekly Rec practices or games, DCSC offers clinics throughout the year led by professional coaches. During school breaks and throughout the summer, DCSC runs part-day and full-day camps. These camps mix high-quality instruction with the joy of playing with friends all day long. Players of all levels are welcome, and camps are staffed by professional coaches who combine technical training, small-sided play, and plenty of fun.
TOPSOCCER FOR PLAYERS WITH DISABILITIES
TOPSoccer at DC Soccer Club is an inclusive program designed for children with
physical, cognitive, and emotional disabilities to experience the joy of soccer in a
supportive, fun environment. Players develop skills, confidence, and friendships while participating at their own pace under the guidance of trained coaches and volunteer buddies.
