TOTS PROGRAM

Designed for our youngest players, the DC Soccer Club Tots Program introduces children ages 3–5 to the joy of soccer through play-based learning. Each session focuses on developing motor skills, physical coordination, balance, and confidence with the ball in a small, supportive group environment.

Our approach strikes the perfect balance between learning and fun, keeping activities age-appropriate and aligned with young children’s attention spans. Through imaginative games and movement-based exercises, players begin to understand teamwork, listening, and following directions—all while building a foundation for future soccer and athletic development.

Led by trained and enthusiastic coaches, the DCSC Tots curriculum emphasizes exploration and positive reinforcement. Early exposure to soccer supports both physical and cognitive growth, helping children develop body awareness, social interaction, and self-confidence in a nurturing environment.

FAQs

What is the Tots Program?
Our Tots program is for players who are just beginning their soccer journey. Our dedicated staff will focus on unique games that incorporate, fun, movement, and interaction, all while the players become comfortable with the soccer ball. Our goal is to provide a safe, fun, and entertaining experience for our youngest players. Tots will prepare them for the next phase in our Pre-K Plus Program.

Where, when, and how long is the program?
The Tots program is for kids ages 3-5 years old. We offer various different locations throughout DC on weekdays and weekends. You will be able to select which location and time within the Tots registration. Each session meets once a week for 45 minutes over the course of 8 weeks in fall/spring or 6 weeks in winter.

My child does not like being a part of big groups, nor plays well with other kids, can we still sign up?
Yes. This is perfectly normal for kids this age. This program is age and developmentally-appropriate for children in this age group.

I am not ready to put my child in competitive sports at this age, what is the structure?
Our focus is for players to have fun, and engage with other kids while also playing games that incorporate soccer without them even realizing it. We have players participate season after season before moving to our Recreation Program.

What do we need to bring?
A soccer ball (size 3), water, and comfortable footwear.

What sets you apart from other organizations?
We have an experienced professional staff that understands the importance of coaching kids with a developmentally appropriate lesson plan. We are enthusiastic and passionate, and understand that providing a safe place to play is an important aspect of youth soccer. Our coaches have infectious personalities because they have a true love for the game and teaching kids.
The DC Soccer Club has been providing incredible programs for 48 years!

Are coaches Volunteers?
No, all of our coaches are paid, professional coaches.
