HISTORY
Founded in 1977 as DC Stoddert Soccer, our club began on the fields of Washington, DC, as a grassroots effort to give local children a chance to play the game they love. Over the decades, we grew into the city’s largest independent youth soccer organization, offering programs that serve thousands of players across all ages and skill levels.
In 2021, we became
DC Soccer Club—a name that better reflects who we are today: the home for youth soccer in the nation’s capital. The change also marked an important step in living our values. While our roots trace back to Stoddert Elementary, we chose to move forward without the name of Benjamin Stoddert, whose history as a slaveowner stood in direct conflict with our commitment to
inclusion, respect and community.
Though our name changed, our mission and spirit remain constant. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit, we are committed to making soccer accessible to all youth, regardless of background or athletic ability. Each year, we invest significant resources in financial assistance, education and development, and community initiatives that extend our impact beyond the field.
For us, winning is more than goals scored—it is developing character, cultivating teamwork, and helping players thrive both on and off the field. Today, guided by our values of
Intention, Inclusion, Collaboration and Community, DC Soccer Club continues to grow the game, support families and strengthen the fabric of our city through the love of soccer.
