WINTER FUTSAL LEAGUE
Our Winter Futsal League is offered each winter season for players to continue their soccer development and engagement in a fun, game-only league format. With 75-100 teams participating each winter, our intra-club league forms coed and girls divisions by age group and is held outdoors on turf fields in DC on Saturdays. Each team is led by a volunteer coach.
Futsal is widely regarded as being extremely effective in emphasizing technical skills and encouraging smart, quick play. Futsal is played small-sided (4v4 or 5v5) with a heavier, low-bounce ball and allows players more touches on the ball to aid in their skills -- and enjoyment.
- ELIGIBILITY:
- Grades Kindergarten - High School
- Rec level or Select level players. Do not need to be enrolled in our rec or select programs in order to register.
- PROGRAM DETAILS:
- Game-Only format. No practices are held.
- 6 games, 1 hour each: Saturdays late January-early March
- Grades K and 1st : 4v4 format, 8 max roster size
- Grades 2nd - High School: 5v5 format, 10 max roster size
- Players can request to be on a specific team or with a specific coach during registration

- Uniforms not required; Each team decides on a color to wear.

Winter Futsal League - Frequently Asked Questions
Can we form our own team?
Yes. If you have a collection of kids who want to play together, each will register individually but must request the same coach or reference the same team name to request during registration.
Will there be field time available for practices?
No. Our Winter Futsal League is set up as games only on Saturdays, and there are no practices scheduled, or practice slots available for teams.
What are the time slots for Futsal games? When does play begin?
Saturdays 9am-5pm. Games will start during the fourth weekend in January.
What uniforms are teams required to wear?
The only requirement is that players on the same team should wear the same color. Each team may choose to wear their rec uniforms or create new shirts, or a coach may bring pinnies -- just as long as players wear the same color. The only exception is that GOALKEEPERS must wear a different collor shirt or use a pinnie of another color then the field players.
Should players bring a soccer ball? Do they need to buy a futsal ball?Title or Question
DC Soccer Club will provide game balls on game days. The refs will have futsal balls for use in games. No one needs to buy a futsal ball unless they wish to practice outside of the game. Players can warm up on game days with regular soccer balls.
