REFEREE FOR DC SOCCER CLUB
Under the direction of Director of Referees Eric Hoy, DC Soccer Club is committed to nurturing and growing referees to officiate in our Recreational League and Winter Futsal League, as well as in our in-house recreational tournaments. If you are a certified referee and want to officiate for DC Soccer Club, or are interested in becoming a referee, please contact Director Eric Hoy.
Why become a referee?
- Stay connected and give back to the game
- Flexible way to earn extra money
- Enjoy the camaraderie of a great group of referees
Please read the sections below about how to become a Certified Referee, or how teenagers may begin in our club's own Junior Referee Program without certification.
If you are a certified referee and want to referee for DC Soccer Club's competitive (travel) home games, please reach out to the correct Referee Assignors listed. Assignors are contracted by the leagues in which they provide referee coverage, and each league may have a different referee pay scale and will have specific league rules that referees assigned will be expected to enforce.

USSF Referee Certification
USSF new referee training has two training components in order to become certified, and both must be completed:
- Online training modules
- 4-Hour in-person outdoor field training
For the 2024-2025 season, newly completed training in Fall 2024 will include both certification of 2024 (through Dec. 31, 2024) and certification for 2025 (through Dec. 31, 2025).

DC Soccer Club Junior Referee Program
Our club regularly holds Junior Referee training sessions, suitable for youth aged 14 - 17, to officiate in our DC Soccer Club Recreational League games in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade divisons. Junior Referee training sessions are held each season and led by Director of Referees Eric Hoy, who continues to mentor junior referees from the sidelines throughout the season. To officiate recreational games above fourth grade, our referees will need to become USSF certified referee.
For more information about becoming a Junior Referee, please contact erichoy@dcsoccerclub.org and include your parent/guardian in your email if you are under age 18.
