Travel FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Travel soccer?
Travel Soccer is geared toward players who have the desire to develop their abilities in order to play at the highest competitive level possible, including those whose goal is to play for their high schools, colleges, and at the professional level. Players in the Travel program receive guided practice and coaching instruction from professional, nationally-licensed coaches. Travel tryouts are held in the spring for the next season. A commitment to play for a Travel team is a commitment for the entirety of the school year. Our players participate in the EDP, National Capital Soccer League (NCSL), and USYS National League, which are the top leagues in the area. Additionally, teams have access to competing in the most competitive tournaments and college showcases throughout the calendar year.

How do I join travel?
Tryouts for the following season are held in spring for the next season. The tryout schedule will be posted on our travel program page. Registration is required for tryouts. We do offer open enrollment throughout the year for prospective players to have an informal assessment during a Travel team’s normal practice.

What age does travel soccer start?
Travel starts at U9. Age groups are determined by birth year. For more information and help determining your players' age group please click HERE.

What does Travel cost?
The cost of participation on a Travel Soccer team varies by team. The cost usually ranges between $2500-$3000. DC Soccer Club uses an “all-in” model and therefore registration fees cover most components of the Travel Program. These fees include fall, winter, and spring training, all league fees, Goalkeeper training, Performance training, tournaments, and showcases. You are responsible for your player’s uniform and personal equipment.
