DC Soccer Club and Brookland FC will enter into an agreement in which both Clubs support each other in the growth and development of Youth Soccer in Washington DC.

WASHINGTON-  DC Soccer Club, DC’s largest youth soccer organization, is excited to announce that they have entered into an agreement with fellow Washington D.C.-based soccer club, Brookland FC.

DC Soccer Club has joined forces with Brookland FC, a soccer club based in the Brookland neighborhood of DC. Brookland FC serves as Brookland’s first soccer club, providing the residents with the opportunity to play soccer without traveling across the city. Easily accessible by the metro, Brookland provides a wonderful spot to expand youth soccer access to families living in Northeast DC.

This agreement will expand DC Soccer Club’s reach across the city. DC Soccer Club will welcome Brookland FC’s Travel and Recreation programs, adding to their 8,000-plus participant reach. The teams originating from Brookland will be known as DC Soccer Club- Brookland. Coaches from Brookland will further expand DC Soccer Club’s professional coaching staff.

The merger will allow the coaches and players to access the combined resources from each club. Coaches will have more networking and education opportunities, while players will have more opportunities to participate in player programming and education.

DC Soccer Club will also bring on members of Brookland FC's Staff. Namely, Thomas Walsh, President of Brookland FC, will serve as the Director of Soccer for DCSC-Brookland. Hailing from Brookland, Walsh played for DC Soccer Club growing up from U9 to U18. He then went on to play College Soccer at Wheeling Jesuit University and coached at Northland College. He currently serves as the Varsity Boy’s Soccer Head Coach at Archbishop Carroll High School.

Walsh said, “I am ecstatic to be reunited with the DCSC Community. As someone who played travel soccer for DCSC (DC Stoddert) from U9 through U18 and captained the same side from U11 through U18, I am eager to create waves of positivity, immediately. Ryan Donnellan, another DCSC player from U9 - U18, and myself have been able to create a great youth and adult soccer community here in Brookland, and we cannot wait to see these kids and parents soar to new heights with more resources at DCSC. The merger will provide our staff and players with more opportunities, and DCSC will benefit from our passion for the game and our Brookland Community. As a Fourth Generation Washingtonian, it is music to my ears to hear Greg's three to five-year goals for the club and for the city as a whole. The players, the coaches, the parents, and the soccer culture in the city will all improve with this merger! To a brighter future and a lot more fun, up the Wolfpack and go DCSC!”

Greg Andrulis, Executive Director of DC Soccer Club said, “DC Soccer Club and Brookland FC have entered into an agreement in which both Clubs support each other in the growth and development of Youth Soccer in Washington DC. As we evaluated the soccer landscape in the DC metro area, we were drawn to the tremendous job that Tommy Walsh has done in the Brookland area, in such a short period of time. He has made a difference in his hometown and the players and families of Brookland have benefitted from his commitment to them.

Our vision and missions are aligned, and that is to promote the beautiful game, make it accessible to every player who wishes to play, and grow the community with a common goal. As a former player and coach at DC Stoddert/DC Soccer Club, Tom is acutely aware of the Commitment, Community, and Culture that is, DC Soccer Club. We are thrilled to welcome the players, families, staff, and coaches from Brookland FC, as we work together to improve youth sports through the DCSC Brookland collaboration.”

DC Soccer Club and Brookland FC will be hosting a Zoom meeting for anyone interested in learning more about the merger at 7:00 pm on May 31st. Details to follow.

ABOUT BROOKLAND FC

Brookland Football Club was established in 2020 by Thomas Walsh a Native Washingtonian looking to bring the game of football, or soccer, to the entire Washington DC Community. The Brookland neighborhood has such a rich history and what better way to add to the character of Brookland than by representing the neighborhood with a premier soccer club. Their goal was to create a positive environment that offers the chance to play the game of football at a high level. The coaching staff at Brookland FC has gone through the club system themselves and offers invaluable experience, knowledge, and passion for the game to our players.
