The DC Soccer Club is proud to announce the Len Oliver Soccer Celebration, in memory of the legendary Len Oliver. This recreational tournament will happen each spring. Proceeds will create scholarships for players, coaches, and refs in the DC area. More details to come.

The DC Soccer Club has just announced the Len Oliver Celebration, a recreational tournament that will benefit soccer players, coaches, and referees in the DC area.

Len Oliver is in the National Soccer Hall of Fame and was a founding member of DC Stoddert, now DC Soccer Club. He passed away at the age of 87 in July 2022.

The announcement reads, "In memory and recognition of the tremendous contributions that Len Oliver has made to the beautiful sport of soccer, DC Soccer Club will host, organize, and promote the: Len Oliver Soccer Celebration.

This event is set to be a yearly celebration. It will occur each spring throughout the Washington D.C. area. The tournament will be open to recreational boys and girls teams throughout the region. Proceeds from this event will sponsor scholarships in memory of Len Oliver. These scholarships will benefit players, coaches, and referees. Anyone in the Washington D.C. area can apply for these scholarships, not just members of the DC Soccer Club. A committee made up of members of the family, friends of the family, and senior staff members from the DC Soccer Club will review applications and award grants on a yearly basis. The recipients will be recognized at the DC Soccer Club’s Annual Award Ceremony. Our goal will be to eventually realize enough income to set up “endowed” scholarships. The inaugural event will take place in the spring of 2023.

More details about the event are coming soon."

The DC Soccer Club looks forward to sharing more information about this event very soon.
