DC Soccer Club is excited to announce Bill Hamid, D.C. United and U.S. National Team Goalkeeper, as the new Director of Goalkeeping.

As Director of Goalkeeping, Hamid will be responsible for overseeing the development of all goalkeepers in the travel program and will promote the club and its philosophy. Hamid will work closely with the Travel Coaches and Technical Director Khaled Hamami to promote and develop the quality of goalkeeping within the travel program.

Hamid is currently the goalkeeper for D.C. United in Major League Soccer. Born in Annandale, Virginia, Hamid was the first D.C. United Academy player to sign for the first team in September 2009. He made his professional debut in May 2010 as the youngest goalkeeper to win a game in Major League Soccer history.

In his professional career, Hamid has totaled 200 games for D.C. United, including 184 in the league. He helped the team to victory in the 2013 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup and received the MLS Goalkeeper of the Year Award in 2014.

Hamid made his senior debut for the United States National team in January 2012 and has gone on to represent his country in six matches. He was part of the US Men’s National teams that won the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2013 and 2017.

“Bill is a great addition to our staff,” said Technical Director Khaled Hamami. “He’s been a staple for D.C. United over the past decade and has become a name synonymous with goalkeeping excellence.”

We are excited to work with Bill Hamid and wish him the best of luck in his new position!
