WASHINGTON - DC Stoddert had a great time at summer camp these last few months! Thank you to all of the players and their families and our coaches and staff for making this past summer happen and be such a success!

This summer, we were open for camp to boys and girls ages 7-13 (2nd-8th grade) with all levels of soccer experience and from a range of programs, including Travel, Rec, and All-Stars Programs. These sessions included week-long camps in a series of morning and afternoon sessions with professional coaching. We had a great turnout for these sessions, maxing out at roughly forty players in the morning sessions and thirty players in the afternoon sessions.

During these camp sessions, players took part in a variety of fun activities while further developing their fundamental ball skills. Activities were done in small groups and coaches focussed on skills such as fast footwork, ball mastery, passing, technique, and shooting for power and accuracy. Rain or shine, our coaches and players went forth and had a great time together practicing their skills. We want to thank our coaches, who worked very hard to creatively cultivate new curricula for summer camp in order to maintain players’ safety and social distancing guidelines.

DC Stoddert followed the advice and the directives of national, state, and local officials as well as guidance from health and medical authorities to provide a safe return to play for our coaches and players. All coaches and staff wore masks, players and coaches maintained social distancing at all times, equipment was cleaned before sessions, and entry and exit areas were designated for players, coaches, and staff to ensure that the flow of people was organized and limited.

Thank you to the coaches for working so diligently to maintain the Return to Play Guidelines and for all players and their families for following these guidelines so we could create a safe environment during these times. We were able to make this year’s summer camp be a safe but fun way for the players to come together and work on their soccer skills.

With such a successful round of summer camp and with the Fall Rec Season being cancelled due to safety concerns, we have made the decision to extend camp for the fall! DC Stoddert will now be hosting fall camp in the afternoons on weekdays (Mon-Fri) during the week of your choice as well as on Saturdays and Sundays. Camp will start the week of September 14 and will continue weekly until October 30. You can register for camp using this link.

In addition, we will be holding weekday skills training camps, consisting of an 8-week series of hour-long training sessions. The skill training sessions will start the weekend of September 12 with options at the following locations:  Westland, Meadowbrook, Rosemary Hills-Lyttonsville, WES Grass Field, and Norwood Park. You can register for the skill training sessions using this link.

Both the training camps and weekly skills training sessions will be run by DC Stoddert coaches and will consist of a 10 to 1 player to coach ratio, with an emphasis on individual skills and non-contact activities. All fall events will follow the Return to Play Guidelines which can be found here
