Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I join ADP?
Players who want to participate in ADP are players that want to be coached by professional coaches but are not tied to the demands of Travel soccer. It is basically a bridge between Recreation and Travel soccer.

How do I determine the right age group for my child?
Age group are determined by grade. You are required to sign up by selecting the correct grade for your child.

How does ADP organize the ages/grades?
The 3rd and 4th graders will be together, and the 5th and 6th graders will be together.

Can my child be part of a different age group?
In the ADP Program, players must play for their appropriate age groups (3rd – 4th grader or 5th - 6th grader).

How many players are selected for each team?
At present, we anticipate the roster sizes for teams in the ADP as follows: 3rd - 4th grades: 7 v 7 formats with 10-12 players on each roster. 5th – 6th Grades: 9 v 9 formats with 13-15 players on each roster.

If necessary, we will adjust the roster's size.

Can a 2nd grader or a 7th grader participate in the ADP program?
We may allow 2nd graders to participate in the ADP but we will not allow a 7th grader to participate in the ADP program. If you have a 2nd grader child that wants to participate in the program, please contact the ADP director for more information.

How are players evaluated and selected for ADP teams?
The evaluation/tryout format for this coming Fall season will be different from the past seasons.

All players from 3rd – 6th graders (boys and girls) interested in participating in the ADP program, will be able to register for the program! The players will be placed in teams accordingly. Please read the ADP tryout page for more information on the evaluation/tryout process.

How much does ADP soccer cost per season?
Each player pays a fee to play in the ADP per season.  This player fee covers professional coaching salaries, referee fees, registration fees, uniforms, player insurance, the club’s administrative expenses, staff salaries, fields, festival events, and many other expenses.

For the Spring season 2024, the fee is $600 per player.

DC Soccer Club believes that financial status should not prevent players from participating in soccer.  We offer financial aid for families in need. Donations from parents registering their children for soccer may also be used.

Is financial aid available, and how does one apply?
Financial aid is available to qualified applicants. Contact Jennifer for more information.

Are refunds available after program fees are paid?
No refunds will be given after the second week of evaluations from the coach. The refund must be approved by the ADP director, the Technical Director, and the Executive Director of the DC Soccer Club.

No. However, for the benefit of the soccer development of your child, we strongly recommend attending as many sessions as you can.

Can I still participate in the DCSC ADP program if I can only attend 1 session per week?
YES! ADP Program does not have the same obligations as Travel Soccer so if a player can only attend 1 session per week, it would not be a problem, but we will not be able to provide a discount on the registration fee.

We will be playing in the Metro Community League.

Is the Metro Community League competitive?
Clubs participating in the MCL have competitive teams with similar playing abilities and levels to our ADP teams.

Normally the games are 25 minutes per half.

How early do I have to show up for the games?
We recommend all players show up at least 15 minutes before the game starts.

If I am not available for a training session and/or game, how can I inform the team and the coach?

Yes, coaches will do their best to provide equal playing time to all players on the team during the games. However, as always some players will play more than others.

Can and should I guest play with another DCSC or even another club team if they need players during games?
YES, If the DCSC ADP coach and/or director asks you to help/play in another team, even if the game is against your own team, the player should volunteer to play. Of course, the coach will switch around so other players in your team can play with another team as well as give an opportunity to your child to play for his/her own team for a portion of the game.

Do we keep scores and points during the season?
We are all winners at the end of the season, so we don’t keep scores and points.

Can I bring my pet to the games?
No pets are allowed to be at games.

Can we have a whole DCSC Recreational team participating in the ADP Program?
Yes, but the team will be coached by the ADP coach and not the Recreational coach. The fee, schedule, logistics, and organization will be the same as for other players/teams that participate in the DCSC ADP program. So, no discount or schedule flexibility will be provided.
