Q) Does the Select program in the competitive pathway now replace ADP?
A) ADP remains in place for Spring 2025, but our Select program replaces ADP as the bridge
between the rec and travel levels beginning in Fall 2025. ADP is currently a seasonal commitment of registering for fall and/or spring and operates under our Supplemental Programs structure. Select will be under our Travel Programs structure to provide more consistency with professional coaches in developing players along the competitive Player Pathway. Select will be a 10-month commitment, like travel, but will have a slightly less commitment level with 2 practices per week in fall and spring, and 1 practice per week in winter while minimizing travel distance for league competition. Making it an August-June commitment focuses on maintaining the player’s development throughout the year, while recognizing a lighter frequency of training than travel to better align with families’ commitment. In addition, Select teams will play in the MDSL II, a league comprised of clubs with similar-level teams, with away games held in Montgomery County, MD.
Q) Has any programming changed in the Pre-Travel Academy for next year?
A) We have simplified the programming based on the needs of families and of player development at this age on the pathway to travel. Beginning in fall 2025, our Pre-Travel Academy is for U6-U8 players and will offer one practice per week and one game each weekend for all participants. Players will still register for this program seasonally and by West or East location, while age-appropriate curriculum will remain geared towards individual competitive development led by professional coaches. At U8, players may continue in the Pre-Travel Academy if it suits their commitment level and development level, or may choose to tryout for our travel program at the travel or select level.
